London is a beautiful city with extensive green gardens, fascinating museums, historical buildings, and many other attractions. Even though the sprawling city is expensive and sometimes tricky to navigate, especially during the tourist season, it is a worthy family vacation destination.

 

You can do all sorts of exciting things from touring the Thames to enjoying a stroll in the Kensington Gardens. Here are a few activities for you to enjoy with your kids in London.

 

  • Enjoy the parks and playgrounds.

The city houses many green, open parks where you can enjoy the afternoon sun while your kids play. The oldest zoo in the world is located in Regent’s Park. Take your kids to enjoy the Diana, Princess of Wales playground, one of the Londons’ best. Hire a boat and race your kids on the Serpentine in the famous Hyde Park. The colorful flower beds in St. James Park merit a visit.

 

  • Explore South Bank

Besides River Thames, South Bank is the hub of family entertainment located at the heart of the London cultural scene. The London-Eye offers a birds-eye view of the city and the river. If your child loves Shrek, then take him to the Shrek Adventure themed park.

If you are the mom of gore loving teens, then the London Dungeon should be your next stop. The shark tunnels with The Great White and Hammerhead sharks and the cute penguin area in the Sea Life London Aquarium is a must for kids of all ages. For history lovers, the HMS Belfast experience will make for some great memories. Borough Market is your stop to feed your hungry kids.

 

  • Take a peek in annals of history.

If you have seen the movie Night At The Museum, you will surely love the Natural History Museum. If not, then the animatronic T-Rex is enough for a visit. See The legendary and mysterious Egyptian mummies and the armor of the deadly samurai warrior at the British Museum. The Science Museum attracts the techs and brainy with their Wonder Lab, space, and flight to life themes.

 

  • The Thames

Enjoy sightseeing on the Thames river. Book a leisurely ride and spot some of London’s iconic buildings. You can see the famous Houses of Parliament, the Millennium Bridge; Harry Potter fans will love it and glimpse the beauty of St. Paul Cathedral. Locate the dreaded Traitors Gate, which prisoners used to enter the Tower Of London and the impressive Victorian Bridge as your ride continues.

 

  • Art and theatre

London is a city of art and theatre. Big, musical productions are aimed at family entertainment and fun nights. The Cambridge Theatre played Matilda the Musical. The Lyceum made a hugely enjoyable production of The Lion King, and the Palace Theatre took up Harry Potter and the Cursed Child with resounding success.
